About Sustainability in Engineering

Bradley F. Aldrich, P.E., F.NSPE, from Montpelier, Vermont, was the 2008–09 president of the National Society of Professional Engineers.
Aldrich is a founding partner and vice president of the consulting engineering firm Forcier Aldrich & Associates Inc. in Essex Junction, Vermont. Specializing in water, wastewater, and storm water engineering for municipal clients, FA&A has grown to 24 employees and is recognized as a premier water resource engineering firm in Vermont.
Aldrich has been a member of NSPE and the Vermont Society of Professional Engineers since 1992. His leadership roles with NSPE include northeast region vice president, member of the Board of Directors, and senior vice president, and member of the Executive Committee. He has chaired the Society's Implementation Task Force and Political Action Committee and has been a member of the Budget Committee, Membership Committee, Nominating Committee, Future Directions Task Force, and Constitution and Bylaws Task Force. In 2004, he was named an NSPE Fellow member in recognition of his many contributions to the Society and the engineering profession.
For the Vermont Society of Professional Engineers, he has served as president, national director, and secretary/treasurer.
In addition to his membership in NSPE and VSPE, Aldrich is a founding member of the Vermont Engineering Council and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. In 1996 he was inducted into the Order of the Engineer.
Aldrich graduated from the University of Vermont with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and is licensed as a professional engineer in Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania. His many honors and awards include the following:
- VSPE Young Engineer of the Year
- University of Vermont Student Engineer of the Year
- Member, Tau Beta Pi National Honor Society
- Member, Chi Epsilon National Honor Society
In his community, Aldrich was appointed by the governor of Vermont to serve on the Board of the Vermont Hydro-Electric Power Authority where he was elected chair. He serves on the Vermont Nuclear Advisory Panel as a governor's appointee. He has also served on the Chamber of Commerce, the Montpelier School Board, and the Montpelier Planning Commission. Aldrich has coached both boys and girls soccer, softball, and baseball for the Montpelier Recreation Department.
Mr. Aldrich and his wife, Mary, reside in Montpelier and have a son and daughter.
