Bio

My first professional interest is researching the events and decisions that created today's engineering framework in the U.S., that is, how the engineering occupation functions. This led me to engineering excellence and engineer exemplars, on the positive side. On the negative side, I see how engineering licensure exemption laws emasculate U.S. engineers and how the formal education required to be licensed, that is, be in responsible charge, has been essentially static in scope for nine decades and needs reform. My findings and suggested remedial actions appear in my 2021 book Engineering's Public-Protection Predicament: Reform Education and Licensure for a Safer Society.

My second professional interest is helping engineers, and others, be more productive, communicative, and creative. One result is my book Introduction to Creativity and Innovation for Engineers published in 2017 by Pearson.
