NSPE Exchange Code of Conduct
Welcome to the NSPE Exchange
At the National Society of Professional Engineers, our communities are built to foster peer learning, professional collaboration, and the exchange of ideas and experiences. These spaces are designed to help members connect, grow, and support one another as professionals committed to the highest standards of ethical engineering practice.
We encourage open, respectful dialogue and aim to maintain a positive environment where questions are welcome, insights are valued, and everyone feels empowered to contribute.
NSPE Exchange Participation Guidelines
By using the NSPE Exchange, you agree to follow these guidelines to help create a productive, respectful, and legally compliant environment.
-
All defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials are strictly prohibited.
Avoid Legal and Ethical Risks
We want this to be a welcoming, respectful space—but violations will be taken seriously. To preserve a climate that encourages both civil and fruitful dialogue, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate membership in this community for anyone who violates these rules. Here's how we address this:
-
First Violation: Post edited or removed; user is contacted and asked to acknowledge the issue and discontinue similar actions.
-
Second Violation: Post edited or removed; user notified and placed on 30-day probation with moderation of posts.
-
Third Violation: User notified and banned from NSPE Exchange. A peer group of NSPE members will review all actions to date to determine if any other actions are necessary. NSPE members may seek to appeal the decision by contacting the Community Manager in writing at communities@nspe.org.
Serious misconduct or suspected criminal behavior will be reported to the appropriate authorities.
The National Society of Professional Engineers supports everyone's right to freedom of speech. All constructive input is highly valued and encouraged.
The NSPE Exchange is not an appropriate platform to address problems with NSPE or its employees, members, services, products, etc.
The NSPE Exchange exists to support you as a professional. Share knowledge, ask questions, and learn from others. We encourage thoughtful contributions that strengthen our field and reflect our shared values.
Together, we can build a vibrant and respectful space where engineers connect, collaborate, and grow. For P.E.’s, By P.E.’s.
